I grew up in Racine and from the time I was big enough to carry a basket of tomatoes, I worked the summers on my Uncle Harry's produce farm in Letart Falls. I remember hearing that the Great Bend was nature's greenhouse, attributed to the slightly milder weather along the river and that great soil. I recall how satisfying it was to sustain our needs, (from what we ate every day to our income), from what we grew on the farm.
Today, I live in the northern part of the county near Langsville with my wife, Jane. We own and operate and share a farm with beef cattle, riding horses and lots of wild critters.
But without a doubt , God's blessings and this great place of Meigs County still sustains me. If you ever get tired of where or what you are, come visit Meigs County and get some dirt under your fingernails.
